The history of Palestine's mail and postage stamps is linked to its geographic location at the crossroads of the empires of the ancient Near East, the Levant, and the Middle East. Postal service in the region first emerged in the Bronze Age, during the reign of Sargon the Ancient, and subsequent empires created and used a number of different postal systems over the millennium.
