The currency of Vietnam is the Vietnamese Dong. 1 dong is equal to 100 sou (su is the currency of Vietnam). Since 1958, banknotes in the su are not currently issued, however, in accordance with Article 16 of the Law on the State Bank of Vietnam, the su is still considered a currency of exchange. Until this time, aluminum coins were issued in denominations of 1, 5 and 20 sous.
