The US currency is the US dollar. 1 dollar is equal to 100 cents. The US dollar also has the status of national currency in some other countries. It is the US dollar that is often an additional (parallel) currency in those countries where the national currency is not the only legal means of payment, including cases where their own currency is not actually used in cash and/or non-cash circulation. It is believed that more than 80% of world trade is calculated in US dollars. Currently in use are coins in denominations of 1 and 5 cents, 1 dime, 1⁄4, 1⁄2 and 1 dollar.
