During the existence of the USSR, coins changed their appearance and composition of alloys several times, which was caused by a series of economic reforms.
The new guarantor of a strong currency after the collapse of the previous monetary system was the “golden chervonets”, the symbol of which was Shadra’s “Sower”; later the “chervonets” was replaced by banknotes that were cheaper to produce.
In addition to issuing banknotes and coins from base metals, the State Bank of the USSR minted commemorative and anniversary gold and silver coins.
