Ukrainian themes are widely present on USSR postage stamps after 1923 (cities, industry, writers, cultural and artistic figures, etc.). The Shevchenko series of 1939 is especially valuable. In 1940, a series of five stamps was issued in honor of the reunification of the western regions of Ukraine and Belarus.
