Philately - collecting postage marks, stamp impressions, envelopes and other postal documents.
It is curious that this term was introduced by the Frenchman Georges Herpin in 1864; before that, for some time, stamp collectors were called “Marcomanas”.
Some authors believe that the first philatelists appeared with the issue of the world's first stamp. Like other main branches, the philatelic collection can be collected along chronological, thematic and geographical principles.
