Jubilee and commemorative coins began to be issued by the National Bank in 1995. In 1995 - 1996 they were designated by the denomination - karbovanets. Since mid-1996 they became hryvnia. These are mainly coins in denominations of 2 and 5 hryvnia. Minted in copper-nickel alloy. Some coins were minted in bimetal.
