Japan's official currency is the yen. It is one of the world's main reserve currencies. 1 yen is equal to 100 sen (a unit of account, withdrawn from circulation in 1954). In everyday use there are coins in denominations: 1, 5, 10, 50, 100, 500 yen. In honor of the 60th anniversary of Japan's autonomy, since 2008, Japan has issued two series of coins dedicated to the 47 prefectures of Japan. All coins have the same obverse. The reverse side of each coin has an original design.
