The official monetary unit of Turkmenistan is the Turkmen manat. 1 manat is equal to 100 tenge. The manat was put into circulation on November 1, 1993. Until this time, since the declaration of independence, Soviet and Russian rubles were in circulation as a means of payment in Turkmenistan. The exchange of rubles for manats was carried out in the ratio: 1 manat = 500 rubles. Coins: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 tenge, 1, 2 manats.
