The monetary unit of Thailand has been officially the Thai baht since April 15, 1928. 1 baht is equal to 100 satang (Thai coins). Currently in circulation are yellow alloy coins in denominations of 25 and 50 satang, nickel coins in denominations of 1, 2 and 5 baht, and a bimetallic (nickel ring and yellow alloy center) coin in denominations of 10 baht. Coins in denominations of 1, 5 and 10 satang are not used.
