Tajikistan
The national currency of the Republic of Tajikistan is the somoni, which was introduced in 2000. Before this, the currency was the Tajik ruble. 1 somoni is equal to 100 dirams (coins of Tajikistan). Coins of this issue were minted in St. Petersburg at the mint. On coins issued in 2001, compared to coins issued in 2006, there is a smaller image of the denomination. The National Bank of Tajikistan issues commemorative and anniversary coins from precious (gold - in denominations of 50, 100 and 200 somoni and silver - in denominations of 1, 3, 5, 50, 100 and 500 somoni) and base metals (bimetal - in denominations of 3 and 5 somoni, cupronickel and nickel silver - with a denomination of 1 somoni), starting in 2004.
