The monetary unit of Syria is the Syrian pound. Has denominations: 1, 2, 5, 10, 25 pounds. The pound is divided into 100 piastres (qirsh), although piastre coins are no longer issued. Fun Fact: The shape of the 10 Syrian Pound coin is so similar to the 20 Norwegian Kroner that the coin can fool a vending machine, change machine, slot machine, or any other machine that accepts coins in Norway. While the human eye can easily distinguish coins, this is not possible for slot machines due to their identical weight and size.
