The national currency of Singapore is the Singapore dollar. 1 dollar is equal to 100 cents.
In 1967, the first series of coins was introduced into circulation: 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents and 1 dollar. With the exception of the bronze 1 cent, these coins were made of a copper-nickel alloy. In 1985, a second series of coins was released, which were introduced in the same denominations. Coin sizes were reduced (most significantly for larger denominations), and 5 cents were made from aluminum bronze. In 1987, the $1 coin was further reduced in size and made from aluminum bronze.
Singapore coins now feature the Coat of Arms of Singapore on the obverse and floral arrangements on the reverse.
