The monetary reform of 1961 introduced new coins into circulation. The variety was supplemented by two new types - 50 kopecks and ruble. And coins in denominations: 1, 2, 3 and 5 kopecks were minted from a copper-zinc alloy, and 10, 15, 20, 50 kopecks and 1 ruble were minted from a copper-nickel alloy.
