On the territory of Transnistria, which is not controlled by the Moldovan authorities, there is its own currency in circulation - the Transnistrian ruble. In 2000, the PMR Bank introduced coins in denominations of 1, 5, 10 and 50 kopecks, in 2002 - 25 kopecks. In 2005, coins began to be minted in Transnistria due to the opening of a mint here. Before this, coins were minted abroad. The PRB also issues commemorative coins in denominations of 25 and 50 from white bimetal, 100 rubles from 925-carat silver, 15 from 999-carat gold. On January 1, 2009, the 1 kopeck coin was withdrawn from circulation.
