The currency of the Kingdom of Lesotho is the loti. 1 loti is equal to 100 licentes. In 1980, Lesotho issued its first coins in both the Loti and the Sente as legal tender. The coins dated back to 1979, in denominations of 1 cente, 2, 5, 10, 25 and 50 licentes and 1 loti. In 1996, coins were issued in denominations of 2 and 5 maloti, and in 1998 - 20 licente.
