The CFA franc BEAC, the Central African Financial Cooperation Franc or the Central African franc, is the monetary unit of the six African states that make up the Franc Monetary Area. In 1973, the minting of coins with the name of the Bank of Central African States began in 5 francs, in 1974 - in 1 and 10 francs, in 1975 - in 25 francs. The coins of these denominations were of the same type for all countries. In 1976, the minting of coins of 50 and 500 francs began, on which the letter designation of the country was indicated (A - Chad, B - Central African Republic, C - Congo, D - Gabon, E - Cameroon). Since 1996, the letter designations of countries have not been indicated on coins. In 1992, the minting of coins of 100 francs began, in 1998 - 500 francs of a new type. In 2006, the production of new coins began in 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 500 francs.
