The official currency of Jordan is the Jordanian Dinar. 1 dinar is equal to 100 piastres (Jordanian coins). In circulation there are coins in denominations of 1 kirsch (piaster), 5 and 10 piastres, 1/4 and 1/2 dinars with the image of the reigning King Abdullah II. No longer minted, but continue to be legal tender, coins in denominations of 1/2 kirsch (piastre) and 2.5 piastres with the image of the previous king Hussein.
