The monetary unit of the Kingdom of Denmark is the Danish krone. The Danish Krone is also used in Greenland and the Faroe Islands. 1 crown is equal to 100 ore. Currently in circulation are coins in denominations of 50 ore, 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 crowns. On October 1, 2008, the 25-öre coin was withdrawn from circulation and ceased to be a legal means of payment. These coins could be exchanged in banks until October 1, 2011.
