During this period, significant monetary reforms took place in Russia, which affected the issue of coins. In 1897, two new gold coins appeared, in denominations of 7 rubles 50 kopecks and 15 rubles. In terms of their design, they were practically no different from other gold coins. Naturally, only by weight and denomination. And one more important detail is that the profile of Emperor Nicholas II depicted on the coins was turned not to the right, but to the left.
The First World War of 1914-1918 led to the complete collapse of the monetary system of the Russian Empire. Gold coins, the minting of which ceased in 1911, completely disappeared from circulation in 1914.
