1855-1881 Alexander II
During this period, the most important event for numismatist collectors was that for the first time in Russia a new gold coin appeared - 3 rubles. It has been produced since 1869 at the St. Petersburg Mint. 1 ruble, half, 25, 20, 15, 10 and 5 kopecks were minted from silver. Their design practically remained the same as during the reign of Nicholas I. A significant change was that the inscription “coin” disappeared from the reverses of the half and ruble since 1859. Due to the fact that new territories were annexed to Russia, Russia's coat of arms changed.
