The monetary unit of the Republic of Belarus is the Belarusian ruble. On July 1, 2016, for the first time in the history of the Belarusian ruble, coins were introduced into circulation in connection with the denomination. Previously, Belarus was one of the few countries in the world where only commemorative coins were issued, which were not actually used in circulation. The coins were minted at the Lithuanian Mint and the Kremnica Mint. The obverse of all coins depicts the coat of arms and the name of the state, as well as the year of minting. On the reverse there is the denomination of the coin and various ornamental symbols. The appearance is similar to euro coins. There are coins in circulation in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 kopecks, 1 and 2 rubles.
