Australia's monetary system has developed very quickly along with the development of the country. To improve the security system, the currency was often modified.
Currently in circulation are coins in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50 cents, 1 and 2 dollars.
The Royal Australian Mint produces both commemorative and collectible coins in precious metals.
In 2001, the Mint minted the world's first double hologram coin, and began producing bimetallic coins and coins with color designs.
