The monetary unit of Albania is the Albanian lek. 1 lek is equal to 100 kindarok. The first Albanian coins in denominations of 5 and 10 kindar lek, 1/4, 1/2 and 1 lek, 2, 5, 20 and 100 francs were issued in 1926. All coins were minted in Italy, at the Roman mint, and were designated as the Latin letter R. Coins with these denominations are still in circulation.
