New Year's decorations are balls, figurines and other decorations that are used to decorate the New Year (or Christmas) tree, as well as the interior and exterior of the premises for the Christmas and New Year holidays. Decorated Christmas trees as a home attribute of Christmas appeared in the first half of the 17th century in Germany and the Baltic states. The first decorations were quite simple and followed Christian symbolism: the star of Bethlehem served as a top, apples were hung on the branches as a symbol of fruits from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, candles were strengthened and lit as symbols of angelic purity.
