Plangonology is collecting dolls of any kind. There are subtypes of plangonologist collectors: 1. Barbyphilia. As the name implies, collectors of this subspecies collect Barbie dolls. Collectors buy clothes and accessories for their dolls. Most often, a barbiphile collector has a huge number of dolls. For example, Bettina Dorfmann collected about 15,000 Barbie dolls and entered the Guinness Book of Records. 2. Pullipomania. Pullipomania is the collecting of articulated dolls. They are also called BJD dolls (ball-jointed doll in English). Typically, they are made of polyurethane. Pullipomania also includes collecting fashion dolls, for example dolls produced by the Groove company. 3. Reborning. Reborn collectors collect reborn dolls. The dolls are as close as possible to a living child. Some collectors even arrange photo sessions with their dolls.
