Luxembourg first issued its postage stamps on September 15, 1852. The denominations on the first two marks were indicated in Belgian and Prussian currencies: on one mark - 10 Belgian centimes and on the other - 1 Prussian silver groschen. However, later postal issues were issued only with denominations in Belgian monetary terms. At the same time, the first stamps did not have a state designation, but only the inscription “Postes” (“Mail”).
