Currently, the Cyprus Post postal service manages the issue of Cyprus postage stamps. Since 1880, private stamps have been used in circulation in Cyprus. The first Cypriot stamps were identical to those issued in Great Britain, but were overprinted with the name of the island "CYPRUS" ("Cyprus").
