The history of mail and postage stamps in Bulgaria is divided into the early period corresponding to the postal system of the Ottoman Empire, which included the territory of modern Bulgaria until 1878, and Russian military field and civil mail in Bulgaria (1877 - 1879); classical (1879 - 1944) and modern since 1944, periods. This country has been printing its own postage stamps since 1879.
