The Federated Malay States began issuing its own stamps in 1900, when Negri Sembilan and Perak stamps were overprinted, making them available for use throughout the Federation. The text of the overprint read: "Federated Malay States."
In 1901 - 1905, a series of stamps of 12 denominations was issued there, which already had original drawings: a jumping tiger and elephants. The $25 postage miniature was mostly used as a revenue stamp. Postage stamps of the named designs continued to be issued until 1934; a large number of their varieties are known. In 1935, stamps of the Federated Malay States ceased to be issued.
