The history of Israel's mail and postage stamps covers periods of postal development in Israel, corresponding to the postal systems of antiquity, Ottoman and British administration, and the modern State of Israel. Own postage stamps have been issued since the country's independence was declared on May 14, 1948: two days later, on May 16, 1948, the first postage stamps appeared in circulation.
