The history of mail and postage stamps of Togo, a state in West Africa with its capital in Lomé, is divided into several periods: German colony (1884 - 1914), Anglo-French occupation (1914 - 1919), French mandate (1919 - 1960) and national independence Togo since 1960. In June 1897, German postage stamps overprinted with German went on sale. "Togo" In November 1900, German colonial type stamps were issued, known as the “Yacht Hohenzollern” issue. Watermarked "yachts" became standard in 1909 and remained in circulation until the First World War.
