The history of Niger's mail and postage stamps corresponds to the short-lived period of the French Dependent Territory of Niger, formed in 1902 from the peace zone of French Sudan and reorganized in 1904 as the colony of Upper Senegal and Niger. In 1903, a single series of 13 postage stamps was introduced into postal circulation for this temporary colonial entity (now part of Mali).
