On January 1, 1891, French postage stamps were issued especially for post offices in Morocco with an overprint of the denomination in Spanish (Moroccan) currency. The first series included postal miniatures, the new prices of which, according to the overprint, were 5, 10, 20, 25, 50 centimos and 1 peseta. The original design of the Peace and Trade stamps was by the French artist Jules-Auguste Saj, hence the name of this stamp design - the Sage type. The stamp engraver was Louis-Eugene Mouchon.
