The history of mail and postage stamps of Angola covers the development of postal services in the Republic of Angola, an independent state in southwestern Africa with its capital in Luanda, and is conventionally divided into two periods: colonial dependence on Portugal until 1975, when, from 1870, issues were issued for Angolan territory postage stamps, and independence since 1975, marked by the beginning of the issuance of its own stamps and the state’s accession to the Universal Postal Union in 1977.
